Privacy Policy — GOOSE

GOOSE is built and operated by AIRGATE LLC ("we," "our," or "us").

GOOSE is a social app-blocking app that lets groups block distracting apps together during shared sessions. This Privacy Policy explains what data GOOSE collects, how we use it, and your choices.

What We Collect and Why

Account and Authentication

When you sign in with Apple, we receive an Apple-provided identifier and, if you choose to share it, your name. GOOSE requests only your name from Sign in with Apple — we do not request your email address.

We use this information to create and maintain your GOOSE account. Authentication is handled through Firebase Authentication, a service operated by Google.

Profile Information

We store a display name and an emoji associated with your account. This information is visible to other participants when you join a session.

Session Data

When you create or join a session, we store session-related information such as session name, session timing, participant membership, and session settings. This data is necessary for the app to function and is stored in Firebase Realtime Database, a service operated by Google.

Presence and Feed Data

During a session, we store your blocking status, join and leave times, and session feed events such as when participants join, leave, or exit early. This data is used to provide the real-time session experience.

Session-related information, including participant names, emoji, join and leave status, and feed events, is visible to other participants in the same session. This visibility is a core feature of the app.

Bluetooth

GOOSE uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) locally on-device to help detect nearby sessions. BLE data is not transmitted to our servers or any third party.

Screen Time and App Blocking

GOOSE uses Apple's Screen Time-related system APIs to block apps on your device during sessions. We do not collect, store, or transmit the list of apps you use, your Screen Time usage history, or your Screen Time settings. Blocking runs locally on your device.

Reports and Blocks

If you report a user or a session, we collect your report — the reason you select, an optional note you write, and a snapshot of the reported display name or session name at the time — so we can review it and act on it. We may retain reports as a safety and moderation record, including after account deletion, to help keep GOOSE safe. If you block another user, we store that block so we can hide that user from your view.

Points and Usage

We store usage information tied to your account — such as your goose points, session durations, completed sessions, and time spent in The Pond (the community room) — to power the in-app progress and meter features.

Your goose points total is visible to other people you are actively co-present with — that is, others in the same private session or in The Pond at the same time. Your points are not shown outside these co-present contexts: GOOSE has no public profile and no global leaderboard, and we do not expose your underlying points history or raw session timing to other users.

Server-Side Processing

Some features — including session crediting, points, moderation report handling, and scheduled cleanup — are performed by server-side functions (Firebase Cloud Functions) operated on our behalf by Google.

What We Do Not Collect

We do not use third-party analytics or third-party crash-reporting SDKs in the current build. We do not collect location data, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers. Our service providers may process technical information required to operate authentication and database services.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising or behavioral targeting.

Data Retention and Deletion

We retain account, profile, session, presence, feed, points, and usage data for as long as your account is active or as needed to operate GOOSE, unless you request deletion or we no longer need the data.

You can delete your account and associated data in the app (Profile → Delete Account), or request deletion by contacting us at contact@airgateapp.com. When you delete your account, we delete your account and associated personal data. We may retain moderation reports as a safety record, and limited information where required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.

Children's Privacy

GOOSE is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will delete that information.

Future family-oriented features, if added, may require updated parental consent and privacy disclosures.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
