Frequently Asked Questions

What iPhones does Proxitime support?

Proxitime works on any iPhone with Bluetooth. For precise Ultra-Wideband distance measurement, you need an iPhone 11 or later (models with the U1 or U2 chip). On older iPhones, Proxitime uses Bluetooth signal strength to estimate proximity zones.

Do both people need the app?

Yes. Both you and your partner need Proxitime installed on your iPhones to connect and use proximity-based app blocking.

Does Proxitime track my location?

No. Proxitime does not use GPS or any location services. It only measures the relative distance between two devices using Ultra-Wideband and Bluetooth. No location data is ever collected or stored. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Does Proxitime work in the background?

Yes. Proxitime uses Bluetooth background modes to maintain your connection and keep app blocking active even when the app isn't on screen.

How accurate is the distance measurement?

With Ultra-Wideband (iPhone 11+), Proxitime measures distance with sub-meter accuracy. With Bluetooth-only, it provides proximity zones (nearby, medium, far) based on signal strength.

Can I choose which apps get blocked?

Yes. You have full control over which apps are blocked when you're near each connected partner. You can customize the block list for each person separately.

Does Proxitime need an internet connection?

No. Proxitime works entirely peer-to-peer using Bluetooth and Ultra-Wideband. No internet connection, accounts, or servers are required.
